Prince of Persia Hands-On

Graphics- The graphics in Prince of Persia (PoP) are highly stylized. The Cel Shading in games have really gotten alot better. Sometimes you can see some tearing but other than that this is a very good representation of how far cel shaded graphics have come. The draw distance is at times awe-inspiring, and character models are well designed.

Gameplay- PoP has a very good flow in terms of how it transitions from tutorial to the actual game, in that its so seamless that you almost don't recognize the change. You are joined by a princess named Elika who will follow on your journey. She brings an interesting mechanic to the game. You see, you cant actually die. Elika will always find some way to save you. The game is made extremely easy in this fashion. Turn off for some, but the game plays well enough that i was able to overlook it.The combat and character mobility is simple enough helped out by intelligent controls for the most part. At times the control seem unresponsive as there have been numerous times in which I directed the prince to go one way and the game simply doesn't recognize the movement and does its own thing. However, a litle time and the controls will grow and you'll learn its limitations.

Sound- So far its mostly good with musical numbers that match the scenery well and it never gets too cheesy. Thats more than I can say for the games main protagonists. The voice of the "Prince" is uninspired. It doesn't really feel as though he could be the prince of anywhere besides, well, America. Elika's voice is much better, however.

Story- I'll leave that for the review but so far its mostly standard affair.
Multiplayer- This is Prince of Persia, silly.

So far so good for the game that has taken a completely different approach from previous iterations both visual and to a lesser extent gameplay wise. Look for a review whenever I finish the game.
